Unique Ways To Create Spaces

"We are born makers. - Brené Brown

Creativity has been deemed the most essential skill in corporate America and is an essential part of a makerspace.

When considering creating an awesome space you don't have to be intimidated because it doesn't have to be hard or time intensive. Below we have given you several of our favorite unique ways to create makerspaces.

Mobile Makerspaces

Low on space? Try creating a mobile makerspace. A mobile makerspace gives teachers the ability to check out makerspace activities with the needed supplies packed together in one cart. This allows for less space and the chance to offer a makerspace to your entire school.

Tamiko Brown, of Ed White E-STEM Magnet School in El Lago, TX, offers great ideas and inspiration on things to think about when creating a mobile classroom makerspace.

Takerspaces

Give students the ability to take home makerspaces. This is a great way to get families involved and having fun!

MakerCare Spaces

We love Gina Seymour's MakerCare program! Gina and her students use their school library makerspace to create items for others. The space encourages empathic behaviors inspiring students to make a difference in their community.

Consider using your makerspace to bring help to those in need.

Breakerspaces

We love breakerspaces because they give students the opportunity to explore how common household items work and expose them to circuitry concepts.

Want to know what to do with all of the old junk in the closet? Create a breakerspace!

This is a great article on how to set up, manage materials, and encourage creativity through de-construction techniques!

We hope these ideas inspire you to create a creative space.
